Social anxiety disorder is among the most common anxiety disorders, affecting 13% of the population. However, a few years ago, this type of anxiety was still little recognized as it does not necessarily present visible physical signs.

Social anxiety is a fear associated with social activities or performance situations where the person might feel observed, embarrassed, humiliated, rejected or concerned about the judgment of others. Examples of social phobia include the fear of speaking in public or in a meeting, as well as the fear of eating in public.
